Anxiety patients

One thing is for sure - it takes patience and loving attention to take a child's fear. You sure know that as a parent. We wrote down some suggestions to make the next visit as pleasant as possible.

Tip 1
Talk to your child more often about "health starts in the mouth". Explain playfully, with simple and convincing words
How caries develops and what you can do to prevent it
Why you have to care for the baby teeth regularly and properly
Why children should go to check-ups regular
Tip 2
Before your child goes to the dentist for the first time, tell him about the dentists' job, his equipment and the people helping him.
You can also come around the practice for a visit. It will be easier for your child to empathise with the new environment. Be sure to inform the dentist and his assistant that your child visits for the first time.
Tip 3
You are the role model for your child. Show that the visit to the dentist is something normal for you.
Tip 4
Do not mislead your child. Tell him calmly that the dentist has to drill when he finds a sick tooth and that drilling can hurt. But the dentist can let the tooth "fall asleep" and that only hurts for a moment (It is important to avoid the word syringe!).
Tip 5
It would be wrong if you promise rewards before you go to the dentist; It is better to compliment for its "great behaviour" during the treatment. Important: Children up to the age of 4 years should be complimented in any case - you should discuss the experience with older children.
Tip 6
Never threaten your child with the doctor / dentist! The child will be traumatised a treatment will be impossible.

Yours sincerely
