Dental Implants
With the loss of one or more teeth, modern implantology offers alternatives to bridges and crowns: The implants are artificial tooth roots, cylindrical or helical and usually made of titanium. Under local anaesthesia or mild anaesthesia root replacement is anchored in the jawbone. The missing tooth will then be placed onto the implant. The big advantage of the implants: The patient can bite hard and feels absolutely safe when talking. If only individual teeth are replaced, adjacent teeth do not need to be crowned. With careful oral hygiene and appropriate prophylaxis, the lifetime of implants is to be compared with the "real" teeth.
